Holiday decorations

Easter has passed us by, but there are so many other holidays to consider! Have you considered Valentine’s Day?

Gnomes and Sweethearts

What is sweeter than some sweet tarts with some cute little Gnomes?

Those Gnomes changed costumes and became Leprechauns for St. Patrick’s Day!

The Easter Bunny had a bunch of Easter Eggs that were spread all over!

Many other designs were made as well.

Of course, you can always find new and fun decorations for the fall with Halloween and Thanksgiving, but also just some fall decorations.

Signs can be 2-sided with Christmas or other holidays on the other side!

Christmas is my favorite time of year to decorate! I love making the inside AND the outside look special! I can make personalized ornaments for you, or wall hangings; the sky is the limit! I bought an old ladder and added Santa to it climbing up the chimney!

Another Santa includes one that can be put outside on the porch or in the grass!

Perhaps you’d like a Snowman for inside or outside?

Perhaps an Angel? I can make a scroll to go along with her announcing the Christmas story!

How about a Christmas Tree shelf that you can put a Christmas village on? Add garland and lights and this could be spectacular!

It’s never too early to start planning for the holidays, so give me some ideas and let’s get started!

Porch Decorations

Sometimes it is nice to have unique decorations on your porch.

Flowers are nice and you don’t have to water this type!

The birds here don’t eat much or make any other type of mess (wink wink).

Do you have any birthdays coming up?

This is a two-sided “Birthday cupcake” sign with numbers up to age 100; for males or females.

You’ve seen ‘Welcome’ signs at stores, but I can make them and decorate them to suit your wishes.

It can be two-sided, too, so that it can be used for two different holidays, or seasons.

Laurie’s Fun Decor

Over the past few years, I’ve started working with wood. Since I was new to this, I didn’t plan on ever selling anything, but as time has progressed, so have my skills and ideas. The things that I make are for decoration, whether indoor or outdoor. I thought that I would start putting ideas out there to sell.

I’ve started branding my projects:

“LAURIE’S FUN DECOR”

I haven’t made anything major like furniture, but instead, I’m making things like this:

Luggage Rack

I started with a luggage rack for when people come to visit us.

TIME TO GET CREATIVE!

One day, driving through our neighborhood, I saw a sign on someone’s porch; it was a ‘Happy Birthday’ sign. I thought that it was a good idea and that I could probably make something like it. So I went home; did some brainstorming; then made a two-sided birthday cupcake (male and female sides) with numbers that can be changed.

DOLLHOUSE

I have grandchildren, so I wondered if I could make the girls a dollhouse. This was tricky and definitely a learning experience. How many popsicle sticks were broken and glued as shingles? Hard to say! I decided also, since they were still very young, that I’d make furniture too, so it wouldn’t break easily.

CAN’T FORGET THE GRANDSONS!

Well, then the grandsons asked me to make them something. The oldest had a robot that was broken and he had made some very creative additions to it, but its head was missing and it wouldn’t stand up, so he asked me if I could fix it.

As you can see there were straws, paintbrushes, a foam dart, a clip, and ribbons. I think a toothpaste top was taped onto the top, as his head. I loved it.

TIME FOR A NEW ROBOT

With some paint and wood, I created new legs and a new head. I used the old paintbrush that he had and made a pink light-saber, and also made a rocket pack that attached to his back.

Then, of course, the other grandson wanted a robot too. I made his from scratch.

HARRY POTTER WAND HOLDER!

So, after these projects, my stepson asked me to make his wife a wand holder for her Harry Potter wands. I knew nothing of Harry Potter, as it was never something I watched, so this was going to be a challenge. I did a lot of research and then found something like this. I sketched it out and found that it turned out rather well. I found out how many wands she had and planned on collecting and then put enough hooks on the holder; for future wands!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING!

Well, now I was pumped and ready to make some Christmas gifts. I went to the craft store to get some ideas by taking pictures of items they were selling. I also went online and looked at some pictures of things that were interesting (and at this point, simple).

What’s Christmas without a Santa Claus?

This one stands about three feet tall and I drilled holes in his boots to put large, long bolts through so that it could be put outside in the grass and the bolts would go into the ground. Or it could just stand on the porch.

I gave this to my niece and I heard that she kept it inside the first year because her young daughter liked talking with Santa while she was in her walker! How cute!

So this year I found a small ladder at a salvage yard. So, I made a Santa Claus that is climbing up the ladder. Since he is indoors, I used cotton on his beard and felt, that covered his red suit.

TIME FOR MORE GIFTS!

My dad likes old cars and I saw something at Hobby Lobby that was something like this car.

EVER SEEN A JEEP LIKE THIS?

Since my brother REALLY likes Jeeps, I had to make him one.

More gifts: I made an Angel, for my mother-in-law; a Christmas Tree Shelf, for my daughter-in-law; and then a ‘Virginia’ beer tasting board, for my son and stepson.

Angel – I also made an announcement scroll with this.
My daughter put her Christmas village on this and also garland and lights.
I also made an Ohio one for my nephews.

I made a small little train for my youngest grandson.

I made a sign for my son and daughter-in-law to put snapshots on, and a harvest basket for her to collect her vegetables:

After decorating for Christmas last year (2021), my husband and I decided that we wanted to start putting decorations outside for all the holidays and seasons. I had to get busy because Valentine’s Day came up quickly.

Valentine gnomes and sweethearts

After doing gnomes for Valentine’s Day, I made more gnomes for St. Patrick’s Day. Of course, there had to be a ‘Pot o’ Gold’ too!

My great-niece (the one that loved Santa Claus) just turned two in March, so I had to make her a birthday cake, right? Well, she couldn’t eat this one, as it stood about three and a half feet tall!

So, now we are getting ready for Easter and Springtime. First Easter:

And the Easter Bunny has to have eggs to hide. So here are some eggs, too.

By the way, all of these outdoor decorations currently attach to fence posts that get inserted into the ground. I can also make them attached to a post to stand on the porch.

Springtime means flowers and birdies, to me. So, I made some flowers and birds. The flowers are going to be put together like a bouquet. The birds are going to attach to the vinyl on the white house.

Each flower is made separately and can be displayed individually.
The Robin needs a nest. The bluebird needs to diet or lay that egg.

I did make a very LARGE, two-sided stacked pumpkin with a snowman on the opposite side. I only have a picture of the Pumpkins, though.

Since I didn’t get a picture of the snowman, I made a small one this past year for the inside.

Lastly, I have made some ‘Welcome’ signs that can be two-sided for different seasons (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer). This just shows the Fall side, but I had Poinsettia’s on the other side for Christmas.

So, if you’ve made it to the end of this post: THANK YOU. Please give me some feedback – LauriesFunDecor@gmail.com.
